Cooper: A useful exercise

2 August 2014

MANAGER Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Town's 4-1 win over an Aston Villa XI.

On the performance...
It was touch and go this morning, we were worried at one point because of the rain but it was a useful exercise for us. We got through with no injuries and we managed to score some goals albeit against a young Aston Villa team but overall I thought we did ok.

On work ahead...
We need to do some work on our defensive shape. We're getting caught with a ball over the top and we need to start taking less risks playing out from the back. It is a new defence and it will take time. We need to do as much work as possible this week so that we're prepared.

On Ben Gladwin...
We know Ben's got that. It's about him producing it on the big stage. He's got ridiculous ability and he's another one to add to our list of very good midfield players. We wanted him to play up in behind Michael Smith - he can score goals and he can go past people.
