Cooper: We Started Really Well

MANAGER Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Town's 3-1 win over Scunthorpe at SN1.

On the three points...
I thought we were really good, we came out of the blocks and started really well. It was wave after wave of attacks and we managed to get two goals up; two good goals. We let Scunthorpe back into it which has been our worry: a bit of naivety and we're trying to guard against it. There is lots of work to do defensively, we know that. They are young lads who have not played together as a back three. We hoped we had enough firepower to see it off.

On the timing of the third goal...
It was important because it took the pressure off us. We knew Scunthorpe would have to attack us and leave gaps in the middle of the pitch. We controlled the second half and played really well.

On half time team talks...
We asked them to defend a bit better. We spoke about that and spoke about keeping the ball for longer periods of time. We could have had five or six goals easily in the second half.

Looking ahead...
We're in in the morning. We have to work again defensively because we know there is work to do. We just have to keep working week in, week out.
