MICHAEL Smith believes that Town could not have asked for a better start to the season after netting twice in the 3-1 win over Scunthorpe on Saturday.

“I had a pretty fruitful pre-season and I was hoping to carry that on into the season," he told STFC Player. "To get two on the first day of the season is good. (We) couldn’t have asked for a better start."

Turning his attention to Tuesday, Town’s number nine says that Swindon need to carry their momentum from the weekend into the cup clash at Luton.

“I’ve played there before when I was in the Conference,” he said. “They’re a big club. We got the win today (Saturday) and we need to carry that into Tuesday.”
