Cooper: A Brilliant Result

26 December 2014

MARK Cooper spoke to the media after Swindon’s win at Walsall on Boxing Day.

On the win…
It’s a brilliant result. It wasn’t our most scintillating but sometimes it happens like that. Perhaps we scored a bit too early then for 20 minutes, Walsall played well. We changed the shape a bit and got to grips with it. There were a few choice words at half time. Once I’d told them it was unacceptable, they came out second half and they were exceptional. It’s a big win for us to come here and win like that.

On squad rotation…
We always had the two games in mind with two different opponents. We looked at the two fixtures and targeted different players for different games. We have to make sure we pick the right team for Sunday.

On the goal conceded…
It was a scrappy goal. We didn’t defend well for that and let the lad in one v one and we had to change things after that.

On Andy Williams…
Willo is in good spirits, he’s full of beans. All three (strikers) are contributing at the moment

On the weather conditions…
There was a 20 minute spell where it was really heavy and once you go 4-1 up it’s difficult for the referee. It calmed down and we managed to get through it.
