Cooper: Proud of the players

18 February 2014

TOWN Manager Mark Cooper spoke to the media after defeat on penalties to Peterborough.

On the defeat...
We made one mistake which led to a goal. It was a mistake from a young player; he'll learn from that. I'm proud of the players. They gave everything and could have have killed the game but it wasn't to be. We felt we had the better of the chances. We suspected it would be a tight game but we've come out on wrong side. We need to use that as a spur. There are a lot of disappointed young men in the dressing room.

On the performance...
I thought we looked ok. We played well. They had a ten-minute spell where we dropped off. We played without a number nine which has its effects. In these one-off games luck has to go your way. Tonight it didn't.

On moving forward,..
We'll re-group on Thursday and count how many fit bodies we have for the weekend. The boys did well tonight. I'm really proud of them and I thought we were unfortunate not to go through. It's heartbreaking but only one team can win.
