Cooper: They wanted it more

1 February 2014

TOWN Manager Mark Cooper spoke to the assembled media after the 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Oldham Athletic.

On the defeat...
We needed to compete. It was not a day for pretty football but I'd suggest the only difference between the two sides is that they wanted it more which is the disappointing thing. The only positive way Troy (Archibald-Henville) he was outstanding when he came on.

On the sending off...
It's not a red card. The referee was poor again but we're not looking for that as an excuse.

On changes in personnel...
We made changes with Wednesday in mind. We were trying to be sensible but the team we picked had enough to win the game.

On tactical changes...
We planned to give Troy half a game and keep Darren (Ward) as fresh as we can. Massimo (Luongo) has played nearly every minute and we should have taken him off at half time.

On the performance...
Lack of desire was the frustrating thing for me. It was a day for grinding out a result and we managed to do that against Shrewsbury, Peterborough and Coventry.
