International call-up for trio

3 February 2014

THREE of Town's Under-15s squad have been selected to attend a Scotland International Under-15 Youth Team training camp in Turkey.

Will Christopher, Callum Gunner and Jordan Young have all been chosen by Scotland Under-15s Coach, Scot Gemmill, to attend the week-long camp.

Town Manager, Mark Cooper, was delighted to hear the news. "It's a fantastic achievement for the players," he said. "It's also recognition for the Football Club and the good work that is being done by the Academy. Having worked with the players in the Academy, I can understand why they've been chosen and long may it continue."

Academy Manager, Jeremy Newton, echoed the Manager's sentiments. "It's great to have the recognition," he said. "It's fantastic because it reflects all the hard work that goes in from all Academy staff. It's also great for the players and shows how much hard work they've put in."

He continued: "While they are in Turkey, the remainder of our Under-15s will be in the Caribbean, playing against the Cayman national team and Houston Dynamo's Under-16s."

The Scotland Under-15s coach, Scot Gemmill, also spoke to the official website: "We're looking forward to working with the players as we continue our build-up to the forthcoming Victory Shield tournament," he said. "It was good of Jeremy and Swindon Town to let them attend."

Keep an eye on the official STFC website for regular photos and updates of the Under-15s trip to the Caribbean.
