Cooper: Pleased with a point

28 January 2014

TOWN Manager Mark Cooper spoke to the media after the draw at Walsall.

On the point...
I'm pleased we got something at a team going really well at the moment. We were expected to take a battering but we came and we were dogged and we tried to play. When we went to a three (at the back) we looked a threat. I'm pleased with a point.

On the game plan...
You can't come away and play like we do at home. You have to ride your luck when you come to a place like this. We did and managed to score a goal. We came here to try and win. It's well documented that we struggle away from home. We've stopped the rot, now we have to make sure we beat Oldham

On tactical changes...
We tried to take their full-backs back a bit with our wing-backs which knocked them off their stride for 10/15 minutes. I'm pleased it worked and we got a point. We've done it a few times and its something away from home that Gives us a bit of security.

On Michael Smith...
It's another goal for him and it's a good start. Hopefully the fans are taking to him and he's desperate to do well. I was confident he'd fit into our system. You can't have too many like him.
