Smith: I jumped at the chance

23 January 2014

TOWN'S newest signing, Michael Smith, says he jumped at the chance to be reunited with former manager Mark Cooper at Swindon.

Speaking after his first training session, the striker declared that he is ready and raring to go.

"I was at Darlington under the manager (Mark Cooper) and that was one of the reasons I came," he told STFC Player. "I know how the manager does things and I know how he works so I jumped at the chance to come here and to work with him.

"I had my first training session today and I really enjoyed it. I spoke to a few of the lads and they seem like a good group so I'm just ready to go."

Smith went on to describe what Town fans could expect from his style of play.

He continued: "I like to get the ball into feet as well as all the usual target man stuff and I like to think I've got a bit of pace too."
