'Too Many Bad Decisions'

14 January 2014

Town boss Mark Cooper spoke to the media after the 2-0 League One reverse at Stevenage on Tuesday evening.

On frustrations…

That’s not the side we know. We have had two games and performed to a decent level, but we didn’t tonight. We conceded a sloppy goal but maybe that’s the way it has to be this season. Away from home we have to do the ugly side of the game but we have struggled with that.

On decision making…

The young lads are still learning and there were mistakes tonight. We created some good chances though but we didn’t produce the finish. You have to take those chances against struggling teams. If I am honest we would have been there all night and not scored, it was that sort of game. We made too many bad decisions in and out of possession. There are things to work on but it comes down to experience and making those decisions on the pitch.

On George Barker…

He showed a few glimpses but he’s another young one that’s learning the game. He came on tonight but Stevenage got their bodies in the way and got their blocks in.

On injuries…

Hopefully Jay (McEveley) will be back on Saturday, we could have risked him tonight but we didn’t want to be short-termist.
