TOWN Manager Mark Cooper spoke to the media after his side's 1-0 friendly defeat at home to Southampton.

On the performance...
(In the) first half we had to keep our shape and not open up too much - we're struggling for defenders. Not a lot happened (but in the) second half we did quite well. I thought the kids made the difference, lightened the place up for us. Waldon, Marshall, Randall; they were a breath of fresh air again.

On the 'kids'...
It gives us something to think about. There's no fear, they don't worry about reputations, they just go and play. (Callum McCormack is) another young one off the line and Scott (Lindsey) recommended we take him.

On injuries...
A few bumps and bruises but we're through it ok.

On the future...
It's another step in terms of fitness. In patches in the second half we showed some good football. It was important with our lack of numbers not to take a pasting.
