MARK Cooper admits that it’s difficult to switch off as a manager during the off-season.
Speaking to STFC Player, the Town Boss says that his mind is always occupied thinking about new recruits and preparations for the forthcoming campaign.
“I don’t think you ever really switch off,” he admitted. “You’re always thinking about players and who can we get in, speaking to the Chairman and making sure we do our homework on the recruits. That they’re the right type for the football club and it’s not just a last gasp decision or a case of ‘well he’s available, we’ll take him’.
“We have to make sure we do our homework and get the right ones in, so you never really switch off. You’re always planning, you’re always thinking about training and making sure that everything’s ready to go when we report back.”
He continued: “I can’t do it, I’ve tried. I’m frightened of missing something and I want to make sure everything’s right but I will go away, I’ll take my family away and have a break.”
