"Pleased to get minutes"

22 March 2014

BEN Gladwin says that he was delighted with his Man of the Match display against Preston North End.

Speaking to the media after the match, the midfielder says that he was pleased to have proved that he could perform at League 1 level.

"It's fantastic," he said. "The most important thing was to get the result because a few results recently have been unfair but it was nice to get a good performance.

"I was pleased to get some minutes under my belt. Now I know I can come to this level and the step up is not too big for me. That was the biggest thing: in training I could do it from when I joined it was transferring it onto the pitch and I managed to do it today. The legs started to go a bit towards the end but I knew I had to keep it simple and get the result."

After describing what happened in the build-up to Town's match-winning penalty, Gladwin says that Swindon's defence provided the platform for the three points.

"I thought I was getting a bit of joy (running at the full back) so I ran at him and felt a few tugs and the ref did the rest," he continued.

"Its brilliant to know your back three behind you are solid and we can concentrate on our jobs further up the pitch."
