SWINDON TOWN               2

THE Town Ladies came back from a two goal deficit to share four goals and the points with visitors Larkhall Athletic in the South West Combination League, writes Roger Reeves.

It was Larkhall who settled the quicker and Kate Genman went close with a header from a Liz Bannett cross.  Kate German raced onto a through ball but Town ‘keeper, Robyn Levett, was quickly off her line to clear. The Town were making little headway through the visitor’s defence and the better chances were created by Larkhall. Laura Morgan did well to head clear Michelle Munro’s free kick.

The Town play did eventually start to flow and almost went ahead when Beth Thompson’s corner was played onto the post by a defender and then cleared. Georgia Walters pick up a Larkhall clearance but her long range shot was just too high.

A lapse in the Town’s defence gave Kate Genman an opening but Robyn Levett did well to save. Liz Bannett found herself clear of the Town’s defence but Laura Morgan chased back to clear the danger. Beth Thompson cut in from of the Town’s right but Amy Scrivens’ tackle prevented the Town’s wide player from scoring.

Within seven minutes of the restart the Town were two goals down. Kate Genman scored from Liz Bannet’s corner and then three minutes later the same player knocked in Michelle Munro’s free kick.

This seemed to spur the Town into life and it was the visitor’s defence that was under pressure. In the 67th minute the Town’s efforts were reward when Chyna Collings’ headed in Georgia Walters’ free kick.  Larkhall were dangerous on the break and Robyn Levett was forced to save with her legs to prevent Michelle Munro’s free kick from finding the net.

With time running out the Town threw everything forward and eventually deep into injury time Ellie Maynard headed in Tara McGee’s cross to give the Town a well earned point.
