On 15th January 1972, Arsenal rolled into town to play an FA Cup Third Round tie. The fixture attracted a record-breaking figure of 32,000 to SN1 - a record that stands to this day as the highest attendance at The County Ground.
The Gunners ran out 2-0 winners on the day thanks to goals in either half from Alan Ball and George Armstrong and would go on to reach the final, losing to Leeds United 1-0 at Wembley.
