Luongo: Nice To Be Back In Sydney

25 May 2014

MASSIMO Luongo is relishing the possibility of representing Australia in front of his home crowd against South Africa tomorrow.

The Socceroos play their final World Cup warm-up match against South Africa before Head Coach Ange Postecoglou initially trims his preliminary squad to 27 and the Town midfielder says that everyone is prepared to do what it takes to secure their place on the plane to Brazil.

“I haven’t been back in a while and I always have a smile on my face coming back to Sydney,” he told the Australian media. “It was nice coming back to my hometown.

“Playing my second international would be brilliant. Hopefully my friends and family will be there. I don’t think anyone could ask for anything bigger playing for your country in front of your home crowd.

“The possibility of playing for your country is massive. For my career it’s probably the biggest thing you can do. Getting called in was a massive honour and I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

“Everyone is here to impress, to get their fitness in for the World Cup and everyone will know what to do to impress to get themselves on that plane.”
