THE County Ground surface has undergone the first part of the renovation process as it is prepared for next season.
On Monday, the top surface was skimmed off, removing all the unwanted vegetation before the Eco-Sol team, under the watchful eye of Head Groundsman, Marcus Cassidy, were back in on Tuesday to install sand slits. These are 150mm deep, 20mm wide and are 250mm apart and are installed to aid drainage and help move water through the soil profile much quicker.
Over the rest of this week, the team will be mixing in 60 tons of top dressing, fertilising, levelling and finally, seeding.
