Cooper: I Didn't Want It To End

15 November 2014

MARK Cooper spoke to the media after Town's 1-0 win over Bristol City.

On the win...
It was an outstanding spectacle. I thought the atmosphere was tremendous - I loved every minute of it and didn't want it to end. To hear our fans singing like that, it made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Our players had to show a different side when Elliott goes off. We have to be patient, wait, don't get caught and produce a moment of brilliance which Michael Smith did.

On the team's patience...
Everybody that's seen us play will know we are a possession-based team. We had to be more patient in the first half but in the second half we were brilliant.

On the goal...
I thought it was an unbelievable goal. It was a fantastic finish, worthy of winning any game. The celebrations afterwards were fantastic.

On the red card...
I haven't seen it yet. I know as soon as it happened the official was saying "definite red card" down his microphone. Once I heard that I thought he might be in trouble.

On the week's preparations...
It was an awfully long week in terms of hours put in, preparation and planing, soul-searching and, I've just said to the players, we don't want to go back there. They have to play with that commitment and desire each week.

Looking ahead...
Three points is all it is. We have a tough game at Peterborough next week - all the focus will be on that. We gave them a good game today.
