Cooper: We Had To Be Patient

29 November 2014

MARK Cooper spoke to the media after Town's 1-0 over Fleetwood.

On the win...
We had to be very patient. Fleetwood made their intentions clear from the start to get away with a point and frustrate us but we had to concentrate for the whole game and not get caught on the break. We had to keep playing and chances started to come late in the game.

On discipline...
It was pleasing. When you get young boys they start to lose their discipline but against Bristol City, Preston and today, we kept our discipline, we kept our shape with and without the ball.

On Ben Gladwin...
He can count himself unlucky not to be starting. He's got brilliant ability and if he can add goals - like he did today - to his game then he'll go a long way.

On the crowd...
It makes a huge difference - it was a great atmosphere towards the end.

On injuries...
Nathan (Thompson) had a horrible ankle injury. On Tuesday, he ruptured ankle ligaments and we thought he broke his ankle. Only he could play with that amount of pain and damage to his ankle - he's a warrior and there's no way he wasn't going to play. Even if his foot was falling off he would have played. We've got a two-week break now so hopefully he will be ready for Notts County. Rafa (Branco) had a sore groin so we didn't want to risk him.

Looking ahead...
It's important we keep our performances up. If we keep getting the performances then you've got a chance of a result. It's more important for us that we won today - we gave a mature performance and to come away with a point would have been unjust.
