Kevin Morris Tribute: A Letter Of Thanks

3 November 2014

Below is a letter of thanks from Sarah Wilsdon, the daughter of Kevin Morris, to everyone who contributed and took part in the tribute to her late father at the Rochdale game.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone after the wonderful tribute to my father, Kevin Morris, at the Rochdale game.

To all friends and neighbours who kindly bought raffle tickets from Barrie and myself and to all the people who I invited to come to the meal – thank you.

To everyone in the hospitality suites who donated money right through to everyone who bought raffle tickets so generously. Also to Mr and Mrs Daw who so kindly bid and bought the pocket watch and a big thank you to Gary Herbert who bid another £100 for the pocket watch. Thank you so much. I also must say a thank you to George and Brenda Chadwick who have so kindly given me a picture of Kevin playing skittles in the supporters lounge.

If I have forgotten to mention you by name below then please forgive me. Myself and my husband greatly appreciated the outstanding welcome we received from Steve Anderson, Sian Griffiths and Adam Wainwright when we came to organise this tribute in memory of Kevin. Everyone who we came into contact with at STFC gave us so much time and help in making this tribute so special so I must say thank you very much! Kevin was a magical man with always a story to tell as many of you dear fans will remember. Thank you to all for giving so generously to the Samaritans – which is a charity very dear to me - and for the wonderful minute's applause in his memory. My husband and I were so overwhelmed with the respect you all showed to Kevin in remembering him – thank you.

As long as I breathe, he will never be forgotten so I ask you, the fans, please keep supporting his beloved football club and keep STFC alive and kicking. Thank you again to everyone who was there that night - I know Kev was watching down on us all.

Lastly, there is one person I would really like to say thank you to and that is my husband Barrie. He has given me the love, strength and all the support I could ever wish for in making this tribute for Kevin happen. In Kevin’s words, he would say: “In Barrie, you have picked the winning team.”
