Report: Town Return To The Summit

10 November 2014

ST NICHOLAS - 0
SWINDON TOWN - 4

Swindon Town completed the double over St Nicholas by winning by four goals to nil in the FA Women’s Premier League Division One South West on Sunday, writes Roger Reeves.

With goals at the start and finish in each half there was not a lot in between to excite the crowd. Beth Thompson opened the scoring in the 4th minute and from then on, although the Town were in control, Collette Bell in the Saints goal was able to deal comfortably with anything that the Town forced at her. At the other end, Town 'keeper Robyn Lovett saw little action. Almost on the stroke of half time Sarah Uzzell latched onto a through ball to double the Town’s advantage.

Within seven minutes of the restart a fine solo by Meg Vella allowed her to run clear and shoot low into the net. As with the first half neither side were able to open up their opponents' defence until deep into added time when Meg Vella put Beth Thompson free who ran on to add goal number four.

Not the prettiest of Town performances, but three points that has taken them back to the top of the league.
