Swindon travel to Home Park tonight in round two of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in a clash that could see Byrne reunited with a few familiar faces.
“I know a few boys there - Marvin Morgan and Jason Banton,” he told the media at Monday’s pre-match press call. “They’ve definitely got ability. I’ve played football with Marvin all the way through the summer. We’re quite close and I know Jason from when I was at Spurs. He’s got a lot of ability so there are a lot of threats. I’ve seen (Reuben) Reid play and he’s definitely one of their main goal threats. They’ve got quality but if we stop that, we’ve got a very good chance of winning.”
He continued: “All the boys are raring to go. The lads who came in against Newport were excellent and I think we should have won there more comfortably. Whatever starting XI and boys he (Manager, Mark Cooper) brings in, we’ve got more than enough to get the job done.”
