Cooper: Work To Do

25 October 2014

Mark Cooper spoke to the media after Town's 2-2 draw with Colchester.

On the result...
If you look at the chances, we should win but we've given away two goals again at home. We shouldn't have to score three to win at home. We're 1-0 up then it's about making sure we start the second half well. In a minute it's 1-1. That shouldn't happen; one long ball over the top catches us out.

On defensive duties...
It's all we've worked on. People were making the wrong decision at the wrong time but they're young boys and they need to learn by playing like that and getting through it. Going forward I thought we were very good again but it's not good if you defend like that. We've got some work to do.

On Michael Smith...
His all-round play is exceptional as well now and he's turning out to be a fantastic signing for the football club. With Jon Obika and Andy Williams, I haven't got any worries about the attacking side, we've just got to sort it out (defensively). We've got three 19 years olds at the back and we've got to work with them.

Looking ahead...
We always knew there was loads to learn. We will do it but once we lose key players we are stretched. We had another midfielder playing centre back today. We'll take each game as it comes. We get a couple of our players back and I think we'll be fine.
