CRYSTAL PALACE - 2
SWINDON TOWN - 4

Swindon Town beat Crystal Palace by four goals to two in a thrilling Women’s Premier League Plate Competition tie in south east London.

It was second-placed Palace in the Division One South East against second placed Town in the Division One South West. This was always going to be a difficult game with Palace in fine form but Town silenced the home fans when they took the lead in the 15th minute through a Beth Thompson header from a Michelle Rich corner.

Palace responded with Roscelle Shakes bringing the South East London side level. Town restored the lead just before the break to send the Wiltshire side into the interval with a one goal advantage. After just five minutes of the second half, Palace levelled again through Nicha Dyett to make the score 2-2.

Swindon though were determined to make their fluent football count and Thompson completed her hat trick to make it 3-2. Megan Attenborough scored the fourth to put the tie out of Palace’s reach. Manager

Steve Robertson was delighted with the result and felt that his Town side had deserved the victory. He said: “Today we played the football we were capable of and now look forward to taking this into our league game next week against league leaders Forest Green Rovers.“
