Cooper: Poor in the Final Third

18 April 2015

MARK Cooper spoke to the media after the defeat at the hands of Yeovil.

On the defeat...
When you have that many players off-colour, you can expect to win a game. Around the box we didnt do enough in the final third to win the game - very poor in the final third. It's very frustrating after the other night when we looked like we'd score every time we go forward. Today we looked a real blunt attacking force.

On missed opportunities...
You know what teams are going to do. They're not going to make it easy for us - they come here and get people behind the ball but we have to be better in the final third. You can't expect to be that sloppy in the final third. We picked a bad time to fluff our chance but we know where we are. We have to remain calm - there's a lot of frustration about, none more so than myself and the players - and go into the Play-Offs with real good spirits. Football is a strange game: you think you have an opportunity and it gets slammed in your face. I didn't see that performance coming as much as we tried today. We changed the forwards, put on more attacking players and we wouldn't have scored had we been there tomorrow. We have to take it on the chin. There's no point me losing my calm - they know today wasn't enough.

On the visitors...
They've come with a game plan. The worst result we have is 0-0 - no way they should score. It's a very frustrating day for everybody but we need to take stock and make sure we're ready.
