Cooper: We Could Have Nicked It

21 April 2015

MARK Cooper spoke to the media after the home draw with Walsall.

On the result..
The first 50 minutes were not very good. I had to change it and try and get impetus and intensity and desire into the play. The last 30 minutes were outstanding. We could have probably nicked it, so could they. It was a real good game in the second half.

On the performance...
We started well - the (Walsall) 'keeper made two incredible saves. We should be in front but we're not, we feel sorry for ourselves and concede a goal. We tried to install intensity at half time. If you stand off people they'll kill you. We didn't get close enough to Walsall. The players have been told they have to get close to people, you have to track runners and you have to compete.

On the substitutes...
I was always going to put Will (Randall) on and I felt with the game getting stretched, Jermaine (Hylton) would get the ball and run like he does and cause them problems. Will gave us real impetus, he got at people, took players on and he can be proud of his period on the pitch.

On Jordan Turnbull's goal...
He's taken all kinds of stick from players and staff about not scoring. We worked a free kick and he gets on the end of it.
