Cooper Expecting Well-Drilled Blades On Saturday

28 August 2015

MARK Cooper is expecting to face a well-drilled Sheffield United side on Saturday afternoon at SN1.

The Town boss also admits that he's not keen to witness a repeat of the Play-Off semi-final second leg in May, where the two teams drew 5-5 in a thriller under the lights at the CG.

“I think I’d take another five goals but perhaps not in our goal,” he said. “It was a freak game (in the Play-Offs) and I think that was down to the pressure of the occasion and what was at stake. Both teams will be looking to be a little bit better defensively.

“Nigel (Adkins) has taken teams out of this league before. You know that he’ll have his team well-drilled tomorrow and he’ll know full well what to expect from us.

"They're a massive club. You just have to look at their squad list - they’ve got a lot of ammunition and a lot of good players all over the pitch.”

Last weekend’s win at Southend saw the Town pick up their first three points away from the County Ground this season, extending their unbeaten start to the League 1 campaign in the process.

“We didn’t play particularly well but we dug in," Cooper reflected. "Our goalkeeper and back four defended manfully and we got the win. We’re going along nicely and we need to keep that going.”
