Cooper: Obika To Miss Out

18 August 2015

MARK Cooper has confirmed that striker Jon Obika is likely to be out of action for the foreseeable future as he prepares his team to take on Port Vale at SN1 this evening.

“Jon Obika will be out,” he told the official website. “It looks like he could be out for a few weeks with an ankle injury so we’re a bit thin on the ground.”

After coming from two goals down to earn a point at Bury on Saturday, Cooper warns that Town will need to be on their guard against the Valiants.

“It was good to come back from two goals down,” he said. “It’s always pleasing when you look as though you’re out of the game and you rescue a point. I think if we’d have been playing for another five minutes we might have pinched a winner.

“They (Port Vale) have signed another big centre forward from Watford who will be a handful so we will have to be on our guard. They’ll try and play a little bit. They’ve got a system of play which enables them to play a bit more football.”
