Town put four unanswered goals past the Spireites and the full-back revealed that the team’s hard work in the build-up had paid dividends.
“We haven’t been the best away from home but it was well-needed for the whole club, really. Everyone performed as they needed to. We were in training all week and we’d had a bad result the previous week (at Fleetwood) and we thought ‘right, we need to put that behind us and start sorting ourselves out’. We started with a good win at home against Walsall so that boosted us a little bit but it’s a good atmosphere here – when we lose it’s not down we just keep moving forward.
Barry’s performance at the Proact Stadium resulted in him being named in the Football League’s Team of the Week.
“I was over the moon when I found out,” he said. “Obviously it’s another little achievement for me but I was over the moon. When I saw it on twitter I was thinking “that’s alright, then.” I’ve got some grief from the boys!”
With no game this weekend for Town, the full-back admits revealed that festive gift buying would be on his agenda in lieu of match action.
“We just keep working hard in training, we’re all fit as anything and all young lads so with no game at the weekend it’s going to be a struggle but we’ll be fine. I’ll just relax and chill out and probably do some Christmas shopping – it’s that time of the year isn’t it!”
