Ladies Back in League Action

31 December 2015

SWINDON Town LFC play their first FA Women’s Premier League fixture since November 1st on Sunday when they entertain Cheltenham Town, writes Roger Reeves.

The Town have missed out on league fixtures due to FA Cup, League Cup and postponed matches. Lack of league matches has resulted in the Town dropping to fourth place, eight points behind the leaders Larkhall but with three games in hand. Sunday’s visitors, Cheltenham, are in eighth spot having collected nine points from eight outings. This will be the first meeting of the two sides this season.

Manager Steve Robertson said: "We need to get back to picking up league points to get back challenging for that top spot. We have got to carry over our good cup performances into the league because we need to close that gap at the top. It will be very tight at the end of the season as there are several clubs seriously looking at that promotion place."

The Town are without Abby Picton but Alex Hurst and Alison Witts return to the squad.

SQUAD: Robyn Levett, Alice Smith, Sam Quinn, Serena Smith, Ellie Maynard, Alison Witts, Chyna Collings, Michelle Rich, Beth Westlake, Alex Hurst, Chenise Austin, Sally Butterfield and Meg Attenborough.

Sunday’s game will be played at Shrivenham FC, Barrington Park, Shrivenham SN6 8BJ
