Cooper: We Needed A Second

MARK Cooper spoke to the media after defeat at Scunthorpe.

On taking chances…
We need to score a second. While its only 1-0 you know if you don’t finish the game off you leave the back door open. Michael Smith scored a great goal. With the amount of opportunities and pressure around the box we shouldn’t be scoring just one goal. It’s not just the forwards - midfielders and defenders had chances. We’ve scored two goals in our last three away games and had large periods of domination. We need to score more. Whatever team we pick for the next game we’ve got to have scoring goals in mind.

On goals conceded…
They were poor goals defensively. We should be out of sight by then. When they’re 1-0 down they’re going to gamble and their chances came from set pieces apart from the third goal.

On the performance…
The performance was fine, it was very good but, again, you can’t keep creating that many chances and score one goal. When you come away from home you have to have a bit of defensive nous and stability.

On Massimo Luongo…
Mas has a groin strain. He has a small grade groin strain. He probably won’t be fit for next Saturday.
