Cooper: A Typical Pre-Season Game

14 July 2015

MANAGER Mark Cooper spoke to the media after the friendly defeat at Solihull Moors.

On the defeat…
I thought it was a typical pre-season game. We had two teams with trialists in rather than one strong team but its pre-season – we’re trying to get everyone game time before we start thinning the squad out. We’ve got another game on Saturday then we’ll start to fill it out from there.

On goals conceded…
The goals come from the way we play. It’s us giving the ball away which leads to a one v one. That’s just (down to) sharpness and getting our passing right.

On trialists…
It’s important we give trialists more game time so we can make a decision on them.

On Jordan Williams and Kevin Stewart…
(Kevin is) very accomplished at the back, exactly what we knew he is. He can play left-back, centre-back and in midfield so he covers a variety of positions. Jordan can play centre-back and midfield which is vital for us having a small squad.

On injuries…
(It’s) full systems go for the captain (Nathan Thompson, who made his first appearance after returning from injury). Jermaine (Hylton) has had a bit of a sickness bug and Yaser (Kasim) had rolled his ankle in training.
