The Gaffer told STFC PlayerHD that, despite the stiff test Town will face tomorrow, he would not be reading anything into the final score.
“We’re just looking at fitness and getting everybody as fit as we can for 8th August,” he said. “We’ve only had five or six days of training and that’s basically been about getting the boys back without too many injuries. They’re fine, they’re getting their fitness back and looking good. We’re not reading anything into results just making sure we’re ready to go against Bradford.
“It’s totally different to what we face week-in, week-out. They (Everton) are a possession-based team with some tremendous footballers and I’m hoping we’ll get plenty of the ball too with the way we play. Usually the Premier League team has all the ball and the other team does the chasing which is good fitness-wise but we want to show what we can do with the ball as well.
“Everton have got their preparation and we’ve got ours which is making sure our players get the required minutes and to try and get them through without any injuries.”
Cooper also admitted that it was important for his players to use the experience as a learning tool and revealed that he should have a fully fit squad to pick from.
“It’s fantastic that we get a Premier League team with brilliant players,” he continued. “It’s great for our players to be on the same pitch. I played against Roberto Martinez a few years ago but he’s done a brilliant job as a manager and I enjoy watching his teams play.
“Everybody should be fully fit for Saturday. Some might play a bit longer than others.”
