Cooper on Villa Test

21 July 2015

MARK Cooper is sure that his players will give a good account of themselves when they take on Aston Villa in a pre-season friendly this evening at the County Ground.

After a first win of the 2015/16 pre-season campaign at Petersfield last Saturday, the Town chief admits he was pleased to be off the mark albeit on a difficult surface.

“It’s always good to get that first win,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk. “The pitch wasn’t ideal for us to play on but we managed to play some decent stuff at times and get out there and prepare for a big game against Villa.

“It was crucial to come out with no injuries. We have a clean bill of health with everybody fighting fit.”

He continued: “To pit your wits against the big boys is always good. You’re always a bit apprehensive if you can match them in certain areas but I’m sure we’ll give a good account of ourselves against Aston Villa.

“They have got some good players and I know Tim (Sherwood) will be getting into them and letting them know what he wants.”

Tickets are still available for this evening's match. Buy in person at the STFC Store, on the phone by calling 0871 876 1993 or online at www.eticketing.co.uk/swindontown.

PLEASE NOTE: Just the Arkell's Stand and the Don Rogers Stand in Association with Nationwide Building Society are opening this evening.
