Cooper: We Played Well In Patches

21 July 2015

TOWN boss, Mark Cooper spoke to the media after the pre-season friendly defeat to Aston Villa.

On the result...
I thought we played quite well in patches tonight. We looked pretty solid. I like the shape of the team and I thought we dominated a lot of the possession as well. I think we could have threatened the goal a bit more.

On the experimentation with formation...
The group you have sometimes dictates the shape. We’re looking for a shape that suits the players that we’ve got. For me, at the moment, that’s not too far away from it. We want Nathan Byrne attacking full-backs and centre-backs and he did that in spells tonight.

On the new additions...
They’re all getting to grips with how we play. They've all shown bits and pieces of their ability. I'm pleased with them.

On the trialists...
They’ve all shown glimpses of their ability. Handing contracts out we have to make sure they are the right ones. We have to be making decisions - we've had them for three weeks now so it's only fair we give them a decision.
