“We’ve got nineteen in total,” he told STFC PlayerHD earlier this week. “We’ve got twelve first years coming up from the Under-16s who I’m really pleased to work with. They’re a very technical group, very good in possession - total Swindon Town type players. We have to get them used to full time training. Technically, they’re very good – we’ve got some good prospects.”
As Town seek to forge an easy pathway for players to graduate from the Under-18s to the first team, Lindsey explained how his pre-season training compares to that of the first team.
“We try and do everything very similar to the first team,” he said. “We look at the formations, style of play and we also look at training methods as well. Obviously (I) speak to the manager, the assistant manager and the fitness coach about what we’re doing and try and mirror it as much as we can.”
