The midfielder, who graduated into the first team ranks from the club’s youth academy along with Will Randall and Josh Cooke, admits that having his friends alongside him as he takes his first steps as a professional has been a big plus.
“I’m really enjoying it,” he told STFC PlayerHD. “It’s good to be back. Obviously it’s tough but it’s got to be done.
“They (Will and Josh) are my good mates around training and games so it’s good to have them there. I feel like I’m doing well.”
Town’s first run-out of the pre-season schedule ended in defeat at Swindon Supermarine on Tuesday evening with the youngster playing a role in the equaliser for Mark Cooper’s men. With Everton due to grace the County Ground turf this weekend, Marshall says that he is looking forward to facing the Toffees.
“I enjoyed it,” he continued. “It’s always good to get match minutes. Miles (Storey) did most of the work but happy to be involved with the goal.
“It will be quality to play against them (Everton). It’s a massive jump but it’s what you’re here for.”
