Thompson: Some Good Signs

25 July 2015

NATHAN Thompson says that there were encouraging signs in Town's performance against West Brom despite the 4-1 defeat.

The Premier League side netted two goals in two 15-minute spells at the start and the end of the game but the defender says that match minutes are the squad's priority as they prepare for the season's curtain-raiser with Bradford in less than a fortnight.

"There were some good signs again," he told the media post-match. "Throughout pre-season we’ve been building on what we've been working on. There were some positive signs and a lot to be encouraged with."

"It (the scoreline) was a bit unfair. Everyone got minutes which is the most important thing at the moment."

The Town skipper has been employed at full-back a number of times this pre-season - the position in which he made his breakthrough during the 2012/13 season - and admits that he is enjoying a return to his old role.

"It's different," he smiled. "I've got to get used to it again but I'm enjoying it."
