Report: STLFC 1-1 Chichester

2 March 2015

Swindon Town were held to a one all draw by Chichester City in the FA Women’s Premier League Division One South West, writes Roger Reeves.

The Town got off to a good start when in the 4th minute Meg Vella’s shot was pushed out by City 'keeper Nea Phroinen to the feet of Michelle Rich who scored from close range. Three minutes later the sides were level when Becky Barron’s lob from distance found the net.

As the half progressed City pressed forward but the Town defence, well organised by Chenise Austin, held firm.

After a disappointing first half the Town stepped up their game and it was the visitor’s defence that had the soak up the pressure. Beth Thompson and Ellie Maynard both went close but could not add to the Town’s score. As the half progress play became more even as both sides pushed for the winner.
