SWINDON TOWN - 2
CHELTENHAM TOWN - 1

Swindon Town went back to the top of the FA Women’s Premier League Division One South West with a two goals to one victory over Cheltenham Town, writes Roger Reeves.

The visitors started the brighter and were rewarded in the 21st minute when Rhona Donaldson found the net from distance. This spurred the Town to up their game and in the 30th minute the sides were level. Meg Vella made a strong run down the Town’s left and completed the move by cracking a shot just inside the far post.

With the second half nine minutes old the Town got what proved to be the winner. Michelle Rich’s corner was not properly cleared and Sally Butterfield was on hand to poke the ball into the net. The Town pressed to add to their score but Cheltenham were always dangerous on the break and Town 'keeper Robyn Levett was called upon to make several saves.

That was the Town’s last home game and they are now faced with two tricky away trips to Shanklin and Exeter City.
