SWINDON TOWN - 3
The Town travelled to face top-of-the-table Larkhall Athletic in the final qualifying round of the SSE Women’s FA Cup and won by three goals to two, writes Roger Reeves.
The early play was fairly even but the deadlock was broken in the 21st minute when Beth Westlake played a through ball to Sally Butterfield who ran through to beat the advancing 'keeper to put the Town ahead.
The Town began to have the better of the play and went further ahead when Chyna Collings knocked in Michele Rich’s free kick.
The home side pressed to get back in the game and were rewarded in the 75th minute when they pulled a goal back. Nine minutes later Michelle Rich restored the Town’s two-goal advantage when her corner curled just inside the far post. With the game into added time Larkhall scored a second from the penalty spot to set up a tense end to a thrilling cup tie.
