Cooper: Red Card Changed Game

7 October 2015

MARK Cooper spoke to the media after the derby defeat to Oxford.

On the defeat…
I thought for half an hour we played really well. We were in complete control and totally dominated the game. The sending off has killed us and we’ve had to put a right-back in at centre-back. Whatever way you dress it up, that’s changed the course of the game

On the red card to Jordan Turnbull…
I’ve just had a look at it and it’s very soft. Jordan should know better because he’s cost his teammates a lot of leg work tonight when they were in the ascendency.

On Bradley Barry’s injury…
Brad Barry is in hospital now in a bad way, so we’ve got to make sure he’s ok. The physio has been asking around and we think he’s been headed in the back of the head and it’s knocked him clean out.

On the performance…
We worked on being a bit more deep and compact and with the pace we had either side we knew we’d be a threat. I’m convinced if we’d stayed like that we’d have won the game.

On the recent run of form…
These things come to test you and you have stand up straight and take it on the chin. We have to deal with it. The boys have put in an incredible shift and I’m sure Peterborough are rubbing their hands together. We have to dust ourselves down and try to get some team out on the pitch. Before the game they were bang up for it and you could see that in their first half performance but if you lose your discipline it costs you the game.
