Power: The Season Starts Now

24 October 2015

CARETAKER Manager, Lee Power, spoke to the media after Town's 2-2 draw with Coventry.

On the result...
Today is the day our season started. Even if we’d have been beaten 2-0 today it’s the first time I think the supporters felt we deserved something out of the game. It's the first time we've played as we call it the 'Swindon way'. We’ve still got people to come back and a lot of work to do but all the lads in the dressing room, we know the season starts now. The most pleasing thing is the comeback but I'm pleased with the performance. I'm proud and pleased with the lads that they’ve done that. Even they (the supporters) could feel that there is light (at the end of the tunnel) and their old team is coming back.

On the performance...
We dominated the game for 70 minutes. These (Coventry) are a proper team - they’ll be one of the strongest ones this season. Teams don’t come and pass the ball like they did but we held our own. We made subs to win the game but very quickly we find ourselves 1-0 down but the lads could have folded. They haven’t, they kept passing the ball and a fantastic goal from Ben (Gladwin) and Nicky Ajose holds his nerve and gives us a deserved point.

On the penalties...
They both looked penalties to me. I've got no qualms with the one given against us and I'm sure Tony won't with the one that was awarded against them.

On the substitutes...
You could see Fab’s (Robert's) quality. His attacking threat is immense. Jon Obika came on too. Speaking to the medical team, it's needs must - we have to (play Jon). We got a point at home and once we start getting back to our old style we will climb the table. We’ve met probably the best team in the league today.

On the search for a new manager...
I've spoken to three at the moment and there are another couple I need to speak to next week. There has always been a time-frame, having a man in for the FA Cup game.
