Collection For Darcy Ward This Saturday at SN1

18 September 2015

SWINDON Town will be holding a bucket collection for Swindon Robins speedway rider, Darcy Ward at this Saturday’s home fixture with Burton Albion.

The Australian GP rider suffered an horrific injury while riding in Poland last month and, after being approached by Town ‘keeper, Ty Belford – a regular at Blunsdon – the club have thrown their support behind one of the town’s fellow sportsmen by encouraging supporters attending Saturday’s match to donate to the Darcy Ward Foundation.

Swindon Town will also be making a donation to the Darcy Ward Foundation.

Belford said: “After numerous chats with my girlfriend, who has been one of the start girls at Blunsdon for a number of years now, we discussed the different ways she’s been trying to raise money for the Darcy Ward Foundation.

“Obviously with my connection with the club, it was an ideal scenario to try and get Swindon Town fans to show their support for a member of one of the town’s other sports teams. There has been so much support on Twitter and it’s great that the club are getting right behind this and are holding a collection for Darcy this Saturday.”

For any supporters that would like to make a donation but cannot attend Saturday’s match, the online link to donate to the foundation can be found here - https://pledgie.com/campaigns/30061.
