Cooper: Not Enough In Final Third

26 September 2015

MARK Cooper spoke to the media after Town's 2-1 home defeat to Colchester United.

On the defeat...
It was an open game. We put ourselves in trouble with a really early goal - something we’d warned about. We get back into the game and have a good spell, a couple of chances. Just before half time we don’t defend well again and they get a tap-in in the box. We had enough opportunities to score more than one goal. We had enough chances to get something out of the game. We’ve got to stop conceding soft goals that’s got to come from inside a player: "I'm going to track my man and not let him score" because I know for certain that teams are going to track our players in the box. I thought we played ok, we just didn’t produce enough quality in the final third of the pitch.

On the change in formation...
The formation enabled us to get two up front and enabled us to have more opportunities in the final third but it doesn't matter what formation you play - if you can't put the ball in their net then you can't win games.

Looking ahead...
We’re having a period where things aren’t going for us. They're a tight bunch, we need to stick together and wait for it to turn around.
