Cooper: We Didn't Do Enough

19 September 2015

MARK Cooper spoke to the assembled media after Town's home defeat to Burton Albion.

On the defeat...
They knew what they were going to do and they did it well. We helped them on their way and gave them a goal. We left the centre-forward free and he scores. We didn’t create enough to get back in the game, we were sloppy in possession and if we'd have had a trophy today for backpasses we'd have won it. We didn’t do enough by a long shot.

On the display...
It was a totally different performance from last week - we didn’t have a lot to defend today. It's ok having 70% possession but it's what you do with it. We have to make sure we are better at the other end. We needed to break quicker. It was like a testimonial game out there. We've got to look at changing one or two things up. We didn’t play quick enough the only way you can beat a team like that is move the ball quick.

Looking ahead...
We're still learning about the new players but we can't use that as an excuse. We need to be better, excite fans a bit more and we need to ask more questions of the opposition.
