MARK Cooper spoke to the media after Town’s victory at Crewe.

On the performance…
We didn’t play particularly well and we didn’t have our usual control. It was a bit end to end for our liking. At half time we changed to two strikers and tried to make it more of an open game. It went the wrong way to start with but we managed to hit back. We managed to get through and get three points. We have to be pleased. These are never easy places to come. It’s the first time we’ve won here since I’ve been in charge.

On Town’s new-look strike force…
Once you get Ajose and Thomas on the pitch you’ve got a chance of scoring goals. We knew when we opened it up they’d get chances. Wes has shown throughout he’s strong and powerful. If he gets in the box he’s not easily brushed off. It was a brilliant finish as was Nicky’s. After missing that chance, it’s great he managed to get that one at the end.

On the squad…
We’re a bit fragmented at the minute. That’s been the common theme. We’re looking forward to having everybody back. We had no option - what we had was out there today. Brophy looked a different player in the second half and Brad was steady all game - They can’t do much more than that. We’ve done well – I’m pleased and looking forward to getting everyone back and fit and having a settled squad.

On Tom Smith…
What a day for him. He got a shock at half time and comes up with a wonder goal like that. He’ll remember this day for years to come.
