Louis: Fantastic To Be Back

18 September 2015

Louis Thompson admits that he's pleased to be back in Wiltshire having joined the Town on loan from Norwich City until December.

Given a rapturous reception by the travelling support at Barnsley last Saturday, the on-loan midfielder says that he is looking forward to being back at SN1 this weekend.

“It’s fantastic to be back,” he said. “It felt like I haven’t really been away to be honest. The boys have welcomed me back with open arms and I’m just ready to get going now. We didn’t get off to the greatest start against Barnsley but the boys are ready to put it right. We were a little bit naïve in the way we defended but we’ve worked hard up until now and, come Saturday, we’ll be in a much better position.

“The fans have always been great with me ever since I made my debut. They’ve always backed me and supported and me and it wasn’t a surprise to hear how loud the travelling fans were. I’m looking forward to being back at the County Ground this weekend and hearing that roar and reception for the boys.”

A graduate of the academy here at SN1, Thompson reflected on how he has settled back in to life with Swindon Town.

"It’s been very good," he said. "It’s nice to play the Swindon way. We’ve got quality coaching here and the boys are full of quality as well so it’s been enjoyable a couple of days to get back to sharpness but I should be ready to go. It (the group of players) is very different but it always has been. Since Lee has come in, he’s always put a good squad together so we’re more than competitive. We know what our goal is.

Burton Albion are the visitors to the County Ground on Saturday afternoon and Thompson wants Swindon to take control of proceedings against the Brewers.

“They’re resolute,” he explained. “Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has got them going really well and they’re on the crest of a wave at the minute. It’s up to us to dictate the game, take the stuffing out of them, frustrate them and see how it goes from there.”
