SOUTHAMPTON SAINTS - 1
SWINDON TOWN - 4

The Town completed the double over Southampton Saints when they visited them in a FA Women’s Premier League Division One South West match and won by four goals to one, writes Roger Reeves.

The Town had previously beaten the Hampshire side by five goals to one on the opening day of the season. Serena Smith put the visitors ahead in the 24th minute and four minutes later Ellie Maynard fired in a free kick to put Swindon two up. Southampton pulled a goal back just before the break when Jessica Lewry found the net.

In the second half, the play was fairly even but the Town were reduced to ten players when Laura Morgan, who had just come on as a substitute, had to leave the field through injury. Playing with ten players lifted the Ladies and two late goals from Beth Westlake secured the three points. The win keeps Steve Robertson's side in top spot in the League.
