Two early goals gave Swindon Town the three points in a FA Women’s Premier League Division One South West fixture against Maidenhead United at Barrington Park, Shrivenham, writes Roger Reeves.
With only a minute on the clock, Ellie Maynard latched onto Michelle Rich’s cross to put the Town ahead. Three minutes later Beth Westlake ran clear to score the second.
Ellie Maynard had a good chance to put the Town further ahead but her kick from the spot failed to find the net. Maidenhead gradually got into the game but could not break through the Town’s backline.
The second half was largely uneventful although the woodwork twice prevented the visitors from going further behind.
The win puts the Town joint top with Larkhall; both sides are locked on the same amount of points and have the same goal difference.
